Vaughn's long day...

Grampa David and Gramma Carole came to visit Vaughn today! He had so much fun!!! They brought him a Batman ball (the kind with a handle that you sit on...) and he just loves it!! We had spaghetti for lunch, and Vaughn had 2 helpings, plus a bunch of tomatoes ( that was after he had some crackers and cereal.... the kid LOVES to eat!!!)
Vaughn took his nap after they left, but woke up after an hour because of his teeth-- I gave him Tylenol and he was fine after that.
We got more company later-- Dan, Tammie, Cody, and Uncle Kelly came over. Vaughn got to hang out with everybody, and he had fun! He really likes Cody! When they all left, I was trying to check email, and catch up on stuff online-- Vaughn brings me his pajamas at about 7 pm. I thought he got them from the laundry basket, but when I went to get him ready for bed, his dresser drawer was open-- he was tired and ready for bed at 7, and I wasn't even paying attention!!! I can't wait til he can say "Mom, I'm tired, put me to bed!!!"
He is in bed now... he didn't get to talk to Daddy today... Whenever I said "when is daddy going to call" he would grab the phone and start pushing buttons!!! He misses daddy so much!!!!

Yesterday I made a tent in the living room with the kitchen chairs and a blanket. Vaughn loved it!!! Here are some pictures. They are kind of blurry, cuz he was having so much fun he wouldn't stay still for a pic!!!!

So far today, Vaughn has eaten a bunch of cereal, 1/2 turkey and cheese sandwich, and 2 bananas!! And it's only 1:30!! After he was done with his sandwich, he asked for water!! He actually said "wawa" when I was getting him out of the high chair! I was going to give him juice, since he was a little constipated this morning, so I got the juice and water out, and let him choose. First he pointed to the water, then he decided to have juice! I gave him a glass of juice, and when he was done with that I filled his cup with water...
Vaughn got his little stuffed bunny out of the toy box today, gave it a big hug, and then kissed it's nose!!! I thought it was so sweet!!!

Vaughn was just being a little turd today!!! He got up before 8 am, and only had a 1 1/2 hour nap... And his teeth are bothering him again (still?) so he was crabby all day. At one point, he pulled the front off of the DVD player tray, I got it back on, but I'm not sure if it will stay and for how long... I turned the DVD player sideways after that, so he couldn't mess with the buttons-- the next time I went in the living room, it was turned back the way it was-- lined up perfectly straight too!! At least he knows where things go, and can put things back the way they are supposed to be!!!
We went to the grocery store today, just to get out of the house. I bought bread, kiwi, bananas, and yogurt. He wasn't too interested in the bread, but wanted to eat the rest of it in the store!!!

This morning when we got up, I took Vaughn in the bathroom with me. Of course he had his blankie with him! I told him his blanket smelled like pee. He looked at me kinda funny, so I said "smell it, it stinks!!" He put it up to his nose and sniffed!! I told him we needed to wash it, so he goes over the the sink, and opens the cabinet to get the laundry soap out!! Won't be long, and he'll be doing his own laundry!!!! Hee hee!!!

Today I am wearing a shirt that says "Eagle River Band". Vaughn was sitting on my lap and he pointed to the B in band and said "B"! I was thinking "he doesn't know what he's saying".... A little while later, we were playing with his Little People Zoo. I was pointing to letters and telling him what they were and then pushing the letter so it would say it. After I did about 5 letters, Vaughn said "B" and pushed the B button!!! So he really does know what a B is!!!!! Yay!!! What a smart boy!!! The Little People Zoo is amazing!!! That was $40 well spent!!

Tonight Vaughn was sitting on the living room floor, playing with his diaper bag. He put the strap over his shoulder and said "bye bye", and then he started giggling!! I asked him where he was going and he said "bye bye" again and laughed!! It was so cute!!
Then when I was getting him a cup of milk, he was looking in the fridge and saw the bowl of fruit cocktail that he didn't finish earlier. He pulled it out of the fridge and said "bowl". I was amazed!! So I opened the cupboard door, and picked up a bowl and said "what's this?" and he said "bowl"!!
He's been in a really good mood all night! Must have something to do with the 4 hour nap he took today! I guess the Wal-Mart gig wore him out!!!

I played a gig for an hour at the new Wal-Mart today, and Vaughn got to go along! There was a couple of BIG balls there, and Vaughn got all excited when he saw them!! They kept him occupied pretty much the whole time we were there! We also got pizza there, and Vaughn ate a whole slice!! He had his pizza on a paper plate, sitting on my amp. He'd eat a bite, and then go play Kelly's drums, and then come back for more pizza!!
My poor little guy was constipated today! He had to poop when we were at Wal-Mart, and it hurt so bad he was screaming!! I will have to give him some juice when he gets up from his nap! I had to walk all the way to the back of the store to change him, cuz they were working on the bathrooms in the front. That store is HUGE!! It felt like I walked a mile! And of course, I was carrying Vaughn all the way!

Yesterday Vaughn was playing with one of our videos. Since it was one that doesn't work, I wasn't worried about him playing with it. He lost interest in it after a while and left it on the floor. A couple hours later, I decided I should go pick it up and put it away-- I looked all over the living room floor and couldn't find it!! So I finally looked in the video cabinet, and there it was!! He put it away!! I guess he learned something when I made him put the DVDs away!!!

movie update...

Kay said Vaughn was fine at the movie. He got to eat popcorn!!! Kay wasn't sure if he could eat it, but he insisted on eating it-- I had forgotten to tell her that he eats popcorn!!! At one point, they were in the lobby, and Vaughn was chasing a 13 month old girl. Kay said he was RUNNING after her!!! I guess she was cute!! Vaughn had fun, and he was a very good boy!

Vaughn's first movie...

My sister took Vaughn to see "Curious George" tonight!! It feels kind of strange being home alone!! I hope he does OK at the movie-- I'm not sure he can sit still that long!!! We'll see how he does, and I'll update later!!

learning consequences....

I was doing some cleaning today, and Vaughn got into the DVDs. He pulled about 30 of them off the shelf and threw them on the floor! I told him he had to put them back, so we sat on the floor in front of the shelf, and I handed him DVDs and he tried putting them back (I helped a little!) He got most of them back on the shelf, we were down to about 5 before he gave up!!! I'm so proud of him for helping put them away!! Now I just need to go thru them and put them back in alphabetical order!!!!!

Off the bottle!!!

Vaughn has been down to one bottle a day (right before bed) for the last 3 weeks or so. The last 3 nights I've given him a sippy cup instead of a bottle, and he does fine with that. So, we are now officially BOTTLE FREE!!!!! Yay! I packed up all the bottles today, and stuck them in the back room, so he won't see them and decide he wants one! I think I need to buy more sippy cups now!!

Today, I told Vaughn we had to brush our teeth, so he went in the bathroom. He usually lets me brush his teeth for a few seconds, and then has to do it himself. I let him brush his teeth while I brushed mine, and he always has to brush his for at least 5 minutes!! Since I won't let him take the toothbrush out of the bathroom, I figured I'd brush my hair while we were in there. I told him I was going to brush my hair, and he took his toothbrush out of his mouth and started brushing his hair with it!!
Tonight, for dinner I made pork roast, carrots, and potatoes. While I was getting the roast ready to go in the oven, Vaughn ate a whole kiwi, a whole banana, and some cereal!! Then later, when I was cooking the potatoes, we were in the living room playing, and I told him I had to go check the potatoes. So he crawls out in the kitchen, opens the cabinet, and starts poking the bag of potatoes!!!! I guess he wanted to check the potatoes, too!!!!! He's just so entertaining sometimes!!

Vaughn saw the collage!!!

I printed out the collage last night, and put it on my bulletin board. Vaughn likes all the pictures of Daddy and babies on the board! This morning, he saw the collage, and got all excited!! He was saying "baby, baby!!!!!", pointing at it, and smiling!!! It was so cute!!

Vaughn woke up at 3 am, poor baby!! I gave him Tylenol, he actually WANTED to take it!!! Then we cuddled in the rocking chair for about a half hour. I tried to put him back to bed, but he started crying again, so I took him to bed with me. He finally went to sleep, and I was worried about him fallng out of bed, so I picked him up to put him back in his bed. Of course he woke up!! I put him in the crib anyway, he cried for about 5 minutes, and then went back to sleep. He STILL got up at 9 this morning, even tho he was up for at least an hour last night!! He's in a good mood today, but mommy's TIRED!!!

A little bit ago, I heard a video tape hit the floor, so I went to the living room to see what Vaughn was doing. He had taken a video out of the cabinet, and was trying to turn on the DVD player!!! Hee hee!! He doesn't know the difference between videos and DVDs yet!! I guess he wasn't too thrilled with the Tele-tubbies that were on TV and wanted to watch something else!!

Vaughn and Tiffany

I thought I'd post a picture of Vaughn and Tiffany from last weekend. They really had fun together! Tiffany thinks her baby brother is pretty cool, and I think Vaughn feels the same about her!! I'm hoping Tiffany will visit more, now that Vaughn is getting so interesting!!

Toot-ta-root!!

When I was a kid, we called the rolls from paper towels and toilet paper "toot-ta-roots"! I started telling Vaughn that's what they were (so are the vacuum cleaner attachments...) Today, he was watching Mr. Rogers, and Mr. Rogers was doing things with paper towel rolls... Next thing I know, Vaughn's in the bathroom with a toilet paper roll, saying "toot toot"!!!! Hee hee!! I have a kid that is actually WATCHING TV at this age!!! At least he can learn things from Sesame Street and Mr. Rogers!!

Vaughn's been busy!!!

I got some video of Vaughn walking tonight!! You can click the Vaughn video link on the right to see them!! The videos are kind of dark, I had the light on in the living room, but I wish he had decided to do all this walking during the day when there is more light!!! I also put in a video of him taking a bath!! He says "bubble" toward the end when he sees his little fish!!

Vaughn said 3 new words today!! He said "cheese" when I was cooking. And tonight he had peach yogurt for a snack. He kept saying "yogurt", and when he saw the peach on the container he called it a ball. I said "peach" and he repeted it!! I just love his little voice!!!

We got about 2 inches of snow here today. Vaughn and I had to go to the grocery store for milk, so I had to shovel the steps, and a path to the car before we left. Vaughn loves going to the gorcery store-- he gets so excited when he sees the kiwi and bananas!!

Vaughn likes to put his dirty diapers in the diaper pail after I change him. I always open it for him. I hope he doesn't figure out how to open it, because he has been taking his CLEAN diapers off the shelf, crumpling them up, and putting them on top of the diaper pail!!! I guess he really likes throwing diapers away!!!

What a wonderful day!!!

My daughter Tiffany is here for the weekend, and Vaughn just loves her!! I did a gig at the mall in Fergus today, and Tiffany and Vaughn came along. I played for 2 hours, and Tiffany took Vaughn strolling through the mall. She taught him to say "zoom"!! We went to Wal-Mart after the gig, and got a bunch of stuff. (we had to get snacks for the Super Bowl!) Vaughn just loves going shopping because there's so much too see! He fell asleep on the way home (1/2 hour drive) and slept for another hour after we got home. My neice Tina came over for about 3 hours, because my sister and her hubby went bowling, and Tina wanted to hang out with her cousins! I made sloppy joes and mac & cheese for dinner. Vaughn ate more than Tina did!! He ate a whole sloppy joe, and a lot of mac & cheese! After we ate, Tina and Vaughn played together, and Vaughn was having so much fun!! I was on the phone with Kurt and he could hear Vaughn laughing!!!
Tina was making Vaughn stand up on his own in the middle of the living room. He stood for about a minute, and started losing his balance so he put his hands down. We all started clapping because he stood for so long!! SO-- he stood back up, got his balance, and walked about 4 feet over to the tv!!! I was SO excited!!! Then he spent the rest of the night standing up by himself! You can tell how proud he is of himself by the big grin on his face!! I think today is the official day of Vaughn walking, which I will write in his baby book. I will try to get some video of him walking tomorrow!!

My "siggies"!!

These are the "siggies" I made today!! I thought they turned out pretty well, considering I had no idea what I was doing when I started!!!

Vaughn's day...

Vaughn was a little constipated this morning, and I made the mistake of giving him fruit cocktail for lunch, followed by a glass of juice!! That was the first time his diaper leaked poop since he was about 2 months old!!! Oops, bad mommy!!
After we had lunch, I was messing with my photo editing software, trying to make a "siggy" for the message boards I go to. I kind of got lost in what I was doing, and Vaughn had some fun by himself!!! He took all the diapers off the shelf of the changing table and put them on TOP of the changing table, pulled about 10 wipes out and threw them on the floor, and pulled some videos out of the cabinet in the living room! Not too much damage-- he can't get in the fridge now, the bathroom door was shut, and I just took the garbage out yesterday, so everything he usually gets into was off-limits!!
About 8 pm, I started getting him ready for bed. He was laying on my wolf blanket in the living room, so I knew he was getting tired. I got his pajamas and a diaper and changed him in the living room. He now knows that he gets a bottle after his jammies are on, so he lays down for the diaper change!! I told him we had to throw away his diaper before we could make a bottle, so he picked it up, crawled in his room to the diaper pail, I opened it, and he put the diaper in!!! What a little sweetie!!! He had his bottle and was in bed at 9!

the hippo and the bird...

A while ago, Vaughn and I were playing with his Little People animals. He was holding the hippo, and it has a bird on it's back... I told him it was a bird. A couple minutes later, I asked him what it was and he just looked at me, so I said "is that a bird?" And he nodded his head yes!!! What a cutie!!!

bubble!!!

Vaughn has this little green fish that he plays with in the tub. When you hold it under water and squeeze it, it makes bubbles in the water. One night when he took his bath, I told him those were bubbles!! So he said "bubble", then stuck his face in the water and blew bubbles!

Today, he saw the fish on the bathroom floor, and got all excited!! He crawled over to it, picked it up and said "bubble"!!! It was so cute!! So I guess the fish's name is "Bubble" now!
